
School Improvement Plan
Mission Statement:
Empowering all students to learn to their maximum potential and to become productive, responsible members of a dynamic global society.
Target Goals:
- All students will improve effective communication skills across the curriculum.
AT DGF we will focus on the ability to transfer ideas to new situations clearly and concisely in writing by going beyond the surface meaning.
- All students will improve critical thinking skills across the curriculum.
DGF defines critical thanking skills as the ability to synthesize, integrate information and develop conclusions.
Interventions:
- Classroom Intervention Goal 1:
All teachers will use a variety of instructional strategies that focus on improving students’ clear, interpretative and concise writing.
- Classroom Intervention Goal 2:
All teachers will use a variety of instructional strategies to teach students the process of synthesis, integrations of information and the development of conclusions.
- Communication Intervention
Parents and the community will be informed of our SIP plan, goals and intervention through the use of many types of media. We will have ongoing paperless newsletters, blurbs in our daily bulletin and brochures that display the goals and essence. For each quarterly local assessment, parents will receive information on their student performance.
- SHC Partnership Intervention
SHC Partnership will include the use of the agenda planner and the use of technology to inform parents of their children’s assignments and projects.
- Technology Intervention
Students will use technology to improve writing and critical thinking skills. Different technology tools will be infused into the curriculum depending on the project to include Inspiration, Smartboards, SIRS database for research.
